May you be at ease…

Learning to hold ourselves with compassion and loving kindness is perhaps the greatest gift we can give ourselves. While we can’t control the positive and negative things that occur in our worlds, we can manage how we respond.

Robert Davies, MD (he/him)

A 3rd generation Colorado native, I have over 30 years of experience practicing in academic settings. I co-founded two award winning LGBTQ clinics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, the IMAGINE Clinic and the Integrated Transgender Program. Additionally, I have completed trainings in incorporating Buddhist Psychology into psychotherapy through Spirit Rock Meditation Center and in Buddhist Meditation Instruction/Group Facilitation through WildHeart Meditation Center.

My approach to care is grounded in meeting the individual where they are and assisting them in discovering the correct holistic path for their wellness - whether that be medications, traditional therapy, spiritually focused (Buddhist) therapy or any combination of those.

Services

I employ a variety of traditional psychotherapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Internal Family Symstems and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I work with each individual to find the approach that best suits their needs.

Psychiatric medication when thoughtfully employed can bring significant relief to many individuals - whether it be in addition to therapy or on its own. I will discuss the rationale for using medication or not using medication and develop a collaborative approach to each individuals situation.

This work consists of the development of a one-on-one relationship based on the practices outlined in the core teachings of the Buddha - the goal being to help individuals develop a liberation based lifestyle through the practices of mindfulness, compassion, community, and a commitment to ethical living. I combine the traditional teachings of the Buddha, The Four Noble Truths and The Eightfold Path, with modern approaches and Secular Mindfulness. There is no requirement to identify as a Buddhist to benefit from this approach.
